Debt is a problem, but it is one almost every person experiences. Whether it is a mortgage loan or a car finance agreement, almost everyone goes into debt at some point. Being swamped with debt is dangerous, because the temptation can be to ignore the problem and hope that it will go away.
Cutting costs and increasing your income to get out of debt
After you have made a budget and prioritised debt, you need to work out how to cut costs or increase your income to afford your debt. Cutting costs is a matter of checking expenses and seeing where you can make savings. Cutting costs can come in a number of ways, including making sure not to pay too much tax, checking whether you are entitled to tax credits and any benefits, renting any spare rooms to lodgers and generally making your money work for you.
