Debt Charities Top Choice For Financial Advice
Thu, 28 Apr 2011
New research by Debt Support Trust has revealed that most financial advisers and mortgage brokers prefer introducing their clients to a debt charity rather than a for-profit organisation for debt advice .
A survey by the found that seven out of ten intermediaries would choose to pass their indebted customers on to a debt charity group such as the Debt Support Trust or the Consumer Credit Counselling Service (CCCS) for professional advice and guidance.
"The findings reflect the importance intermediaries place on the safety of their clients," said Stuart Carmichael, director of Debt Support Trust.
"The debt industry is going through turbulent change and a not-for-profit charity is one of the safest places for clients in debt ."
He added: "Our charity recognises the importance of working alongside local councils, housing associations and intermediaries to provide partnered debt support for indebted people."
