Increasing numbers struggling with debt
Mon, 14 Nov 2011
An increasing number of Britons are struggling with debt - and this amount is likely to escalate in the not-so-distant future.
This is the suggestion of David Rodger, managing director of the Debt Advice Foundation - which was established in 2002 and is a member of the support network AdviceUK - who claimed more individuals are likely to require financial support in the coming months and years.
The industry figure was speaking after the Council of Mortgage Lenders released new statistics revealing the number of repossessions by mortgage lenders in the third quarter of this year did not show a significant drop when compared to that recorded for the previous three-month period.
Mr Rodger stated: "More and more people are struggling and government funding is drying up."
He recommended anybody in monetary trouble should seek assistance sooner rather than later and must refrain from suffering in silence.
For those who are not yet ready to openly discuss their debt issues, downloading online tools to help them better create and stick to a budget could be a beneficial step to take.
