Majority of Brits are worried about debt
Mon, 03 Oct 2011
The threat of debt is something that appears to be on the minds of the majority of Brits, judging by newly-released figures.
Compiled by Unbiased.co.uk, the research showed 72 per cent of UK adults - which equates to around 35 million people - are currently worried about the state of their personal finances.
According to the study, people are concerned about a number of factors, including savings and personal retirement planning.
Despite this, many individuals appear reluctant to sort out their finances, with 38 per cent of those fearful of their position admitting they have not taken any steps to rectify the situation.
Karen Barrett, chief executive of the price comparison website - which is run by a team with over 30 years experience in the financial services industry - said: "The current economic outlook is uncertain and as our research shows there are some real financial concerns for consumers right now."
The industry figure explained individuals need to take action sooner rather than later on how to bolster their monetary position.
